One sees a similar box for a wall air conditioner. Naturally people assume they are the same. But they arent and this article will explain why. The two types share some characteristics. Both span the dividing line from inside to outside allowing all components to be housed in a single box. Therefore both utilize both inside and outside air to perform. Both are designed to condition a single room. But there are differences. Windows are thin and the sleeve for a window unit is designed to take advantage of this. It sits on the window sill with the window closed onto the case to seal the top.
When cooling such a device reduces the humidity in the room. There are certain advantages in it for example in a hot afternoon or after rain when the humidity reaches its maximum 100% and the dehumidification is up to 30-60% it facilitates thermoregulation of the body. Window air conditioners are able not only to cool the air. More expensive and modern models have remote control and can operate in the heating and cleaning mode. They have a wide range of operating temperatures - an average from 18 to 43°C. Powerful differently directed air flow evenly distributes across the area.
If you choose to use a window air conditioner than you should also look for a place that it can be secured and placed in a room that you will not be sleeping in. As you can tell by now I am not a big fan of window air conditioners. They do have a place for some people. However you do need to be aware of the problems that you may encounter with them. The low initial cost can be offset by the fact that they typically do not last as long as a central air conditioner. Central air conditioning will last much longer be quieter during operation be more efficient be more secure but the initial cost will be higher.
